bpi.agri HAS THE NEEDS OF THE EQUINE MARKET ALL WRAPPED UP

Producers of mini-bale haylage can now benefit from Miniwrap, an agriculture stretch film designed specifically for the equine market. Miniwrap is an exciting new film product created by bpi.agri, the UK’s leading manufacturer of agricultural films including Silotite, the UK’s leading balewrap.

Miniwrap’s multi-layer construction provides excellent strength and puncture resistance to protect haylage during the long storage months, not only from the elements but also from rips and tears that can ultimately lead to spoilage. It also enjoys a high tack level which ensures that it clings securely to the bale to reduce the occurrence of loose or trailing film. Exposure to sunlight and UV radiation can degrade bale wrap thereby reducing its ability to protect the fodder inside so Miniwrap has been formulated using special additives which provide excellent in-built UV protection. Manufactured in green in widths of 250mm and 360mm Miniwrap is available from farming and agricultural suppliers nationwide.

Good haylage begins with the careful selection of grass of suitable species that is neither over-mature nor too stemmy. Correct timing of harvest and good weather conditions during the crop’s growing season are also vital. It is advisable to restrict the dry matter of the grass to a maximum 60% and the bales should be dense and well shaped. In addition the film wrapped around the bale must be as air tight as possible. You even have to consider how you store the bales in order to protect them from bird and vermin damage.

Bpi.agri has been a global leader in the production of balewrap films for over 20 years with their products used in over 50 countries around the world. This broad experience has provided the bpi.agri team with a wealth of knowledge when it comes to best balewrapping practices and the bpi.agri team nationwide are happy to provide technical back-up and advice when and where it’s needed.

Committed to a programme of continuous research to ensure high quality products that are scientifically proven, bpi.agri has a long-standing programme of research with the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER). This strategic alliance enables bpi.agri to produce the best products for its end users which include stables and studs, farmers and contractors - and aids the evolvement of the science of silage making. It also assures bpi.agri’s position as leader in agricultural polythene film manufacturing.
