We’ve got the needs of the equine market all wrapped up
It stands to reason that a better quality feed results in a healthier, happier horse. But when it comes to producing haylage, the actual process involved isn’t as straightforward as it seems.
A number of factors have to be considered and attention to detail is key.

Good haylage begins with the careful selection of grass that is neither over-mature or too stemmy. As such, the timing of harvest and the weather conditions during the crop’s growing season are important. The dry matter of the grass must also be less than 60% and the bales should be dense and well shaped. In addition, the film wrapped around the bale must be as air tight as possible. You even have to consider how you store the bales in order to protect them from bird and vermin damage. bpi.agri understands all this because we understand the complexities of creating and storing quality haylage. It’s this understanding that has led us to develop Miniwrap – a product specifically designed for haylage production.

bpi.agri. Experts in bale wrapping
For over 20 years we have been a global leader in this market supplying products to farmers and contractors on almost every continent in the world. Our solutions to this important agricultural need are not only tried and tested, they are widely respected for their reliability, performance and technical innovation. Naturally, this track record has given us substantial experience, insight and expertise – and it’s this that has been distilled in the creation of Miniwrap.

More layers. More protection
When it comes to the production of haylage, few things are more important than restricting the intrusion of air. If excessive air is allowed to enter the bale, it affects the chemical and biological processes involved resulting in a less nutritious feed. It can also contribute to the growth of mould. As such, bpi.agri has long been an advocate of applying 6 layers of film or more to each bale.

The reason for this is simple. The greater the number of layers, the greater the air tight seal which can be achieved. Plus, increased layers also mean increased protection against rips and tears.

In addition, Miniwrap benefits from a multi-layer construction. During its production, numerous layers are bonded together to create a film that is stronger and that delivers optimum levels of resistance and durability.

Higher tack, fewer tails
For enhanced performance and increased ease of use, Miniwrap benefits from a unique two-sided tack system pioneered by bpi.agri. This ensures instant adherence of each film layer applied not only to the bale itself, but also to the film layers adjacent. This increasingly effective bond between the layers helps to create a more effective barrier to air and water, both of which can cause spoilage of the haylage. Plus, when a bale has been wrapped, the cut film end adheres to it reducing the occurrence of loose or trailing wrap – also known as tails.

In-built UV protection
Air and water aren’t the only elements that can adversely affect wrapped haylage bales.
Exposure to sunlight and UV radiation can also degrade the wrapping film itself, reducing its ability to protect the fodder inside. To overcome this, Miniwrap is manufactured using special additives which provide excellent in-built UV protection.
